Regarding the story, here's my half-assed summary because I couldn't read like half of the kanji: it's Princess Peach birthday and everybody's about to celebrate. A large cake appears for the party, but who could it be from? Suddenly Bowser Jr. pops out of the cake and I'm assuming he kidnaps the Princess. The Koopalings are there too. Now it's up to Mario, Luigi, Yellow Toad and Blue Toad to save her.
Maybe someone else will be more meticulous about translating it for you guys, but there's the gist of it for now.
As far as the scans go, the game is looking great, but I am a bit disappointed that they seem to be keeping "Yellow Toad" and "Blue Toad" as the 3rd and 4th players. Boooring
