You know what... looking at the other screenshots I think the game might be a Power Stone like fighter (NP mentioned setting traps and destroying backgrounds). If that's the case, then I guess I can live with it. It could actually be fun.

But if the game really ends up being a 3D fighting ala Tekken or Virtua Fighter, then I really doubt it will come close to something remotely good. Not even Dead or Alive good.

Shrug. It's been proven that that only good* Castlevania games are 2D ones, I don't see how this changes anything.

*I didn't think the first 3D chapter on PS2 was bad at all.

It actually sort of looks like someone made the custom characters in Soul Calibur 3 and doctored the shot so it looks all Castlevania-y. That really was my first reaction, honest, but it looked like it could be sort of professional and nobody else seemed to see it, so I just kept my mouth shut. Honest.

To be fair, they haven't made a good Castlevania game since Aria, so it's not like my lack of enthusiasm is anything new.

You have to admit the idea sounds pretty ridiculous on the face of it. I can envision Castlevania branching out into different genres, but a one-on-one fighter is an odd choice.

It's just that Castlevania is a dear dear friend of mine and I'd hate it if we are going to start getting Castlevania: The Puzzle Game or Castlevania Party after Castlevania: The Fighter.

Awesome as it sounds, actually you don't. I'm forgiving of bad 3d fighting games and even I'll admit Teras Kasi was a dud. A well-done Star Wars fighter would be awesome, but their one attempt at it wasn't so hot.

As for Castlevania Judgment, as only a casual fan of the series, color me amused. I can't say I'm exactly interested, but it's one of those left-field things that I'll definitely keep my eye on.
