You think maybe he's making fun of Let's Plays or something?

I doubt its authenticity.

This is one case where the NicoNico version with comments visible during the video makes it funnier.

Whether it's authentic or not, I still love his reaction upon meeting the first Goomba. OH!!!

He sure sounds like a lot of Japanese speakers of English I've met.

Although, honestly, I don't really care whether or not it's real.

I understand; I wasn't questioning its authenticity, just merely stating that I didn't care if it was authentic or not. So we're on the same boat. I just loved his reaction to the Goomba because that was something along the lines of how I reacted when I first met one.

Sorry if that came accross strangely. I didn't mean to suggest that we weren't.

Wait a minute. In this Mario game the Koopas EXPLODE after you jump on them? Why didn't I know about this sooner?

Super Mario Land is weird and awesome.

For some reason the "EBURIDEI...MIDONAITO...EBURIDEI...MIDONAITO!" was my favorite part.

Super Mario Land has always been an obscure title. I remember an old issue of Nintendo Power had a comic of some kid playing that game and ending up inside the game world, or something of that sort. =P

That was from Valiant Comics' Nintendo Comics System, and it's even crazier than that. Scroll down to "In the Palm of Your Hand."

Re: authenticity: the reason I wonder about it is that if this is just some guy playing a racist impersonation, it takes away from the enjoyment of it (as much as you can enjoy and feel good about someone drunk out of his mind narrating a video game).

That's interesting to note, but the video originates from a Japanese website, which at least gives the feeling that it's authentic.

And you'd probably have to be a genius voice actor to play a drunken Japanese guy fumbling accented English this accurately.

I dunno, it's just so.. completely over the top.

Some of the youtube comments made it sound like this might be some kind of performance piece? Someone from a comedy group or something?

Either way, man. Even if it is a comedy thing, and they are making fun of Let's Play videos.

English LP: "Fuck fuck fuuuckk man this monster is so bad ass it'll rape your mother and shit up her vagina!! SHHHIIIIIIIITTT"

Japanese LP: "No fuck me. I fuck you. Dat monsta break window. Wahoo!"

Even if this is the case, it's an impersonation of a Japanese person speaking English so good that the Japanese audience at NicoNico was tricked into believing and finding hilarious. At which point it stops being racist and becomes even funnier. If the audience being portayed enjoys it, it probably isn't all that offensive.

Although, again, it sounds extremely authentic to me.

And he certainly loves his "Fakk yuu"s and "Omaigaa!"s.

All his "Bad monsta" kept me laughing.

I'm trying and failing to imagine a person who would find it funny to imitate a drunken Japanese person speaking heavily-accented not-quite-fluent English while also being intelligent enough to perform such an accurate imitation.

Something tells me that Yokoi would approve. Out of all the Mario's, this one is definitely the one to narrate drunkenly.
