High-Def Alert: The World of Blu-Ray and HD DVD

Blu-ray gets another major coup this week, as the first Spielberg movie to be released on an HD format is coming out as a Blu-ray exclusive. What's even more interesting is that Universal was reportedly trying to get Spielberg's approval to release three of his most popular titles on HD-DVD, but couldn't obtain it and had to cancel the projects.
If you saw that Dragon Ball Z cover art and your eyes became comically large, please do check out my friend Mightyblue's excellent Anime Column. It's your connection to all things kawaii -- or in this case all things steroidal and grunty -- so be sure to give it a read.

Did I mention earlier how little regard I have for the Shrek movies? I did? Well... you can check out Keira Knightley in high definition AND enjoy a Jane Austen classic! That's got to count for something.
Pain Doesn't Lie: Horror on DVD

Is it cannibal week or something? I can't watch those movies at all. I don't know why I think zombie movies are incredibly awesome but I draw the line at cannibals. Just collecting the images this week made me a bit queasy.
More horror movies came out this week than I could fit into my compilation image, and some of them were borderline NSFW, so I went ahead and cut them. If you're really curious (and I know you are!) you can check them out here: Warning: Partial Nudity, May Not Be Safe For Work
Feedback is the lubricant which keeps the engine of Add To Queue running smoothly. Let me know what you think on he official thread in the forum. If you're shy, PM me!
Prepared with the assistance of The Digital Bits, a wonderfully comprehensive home media site, and cover art courtesy of Amazon, where you can purchase any of these titles. Rent all of the movies covered in the column online at Netflix. We recommend waiting until the format war is over before investing in an HD player, but if you have to do it right away our money is on Blu-ray. Be sure to PM the author via the forums if you have any suggestions for the column. Right across the eyes with a shovel. And now the headman says I have to pay the bastard money because he went blind. If you know where this quote comes from without checking Google, you get 10 nerd points. Thanks for reading!
