Green Hill Zone

The area near my apartment is, as its name (Nob Hill) would suggest, rather hilly. This is fortunate for me, because with my schedule the geography is about the only thing keeping me in a state of moderate fitness. If not for climbing and descending on a regular basis, I would almost certainly become completely Jabba-like.

At the crest of the rise in the photo is a street called Green. And if you happen to climb to the peak of Green and Leavenworth, you'll be greeted with a sign warning you that it is, indeed, hilly in these here parts.

Hmm... Green... Hill... Green Hill... what does that remind me of? What is it that's missing from his scene?

Oh, right. That's it.

Consider this a fair warning, kids: making your living writing about video games does terrible, permanent damage to the portion of your brain that allows you to refrain from being a complete dork.

On the plus side, if I begin to despair too much of my dorky fate, I can always face the other direction and enjoy the view to the north from the crest of the hill -- which is, quite frankly, breathtaking.

Of course, a block south of Green you come to...

...which stimulates an entirely different aspect of geekiness. One located more toward the hindbrain, I think. Ah well. Might as well accept the fact that I'm doomed.
