BakeSpite.net was borne of a divine batch of brownies: They tasted like heaven and inspired a reader’s suggestion for “BakeSpite.” (To go along with the videogames website GameSpite, you see.)
BakeSpite isn’t strictly about baking, and it has nothing much to do with any sentiment of spite. On the contrary! It’s about our love for great food, whether it’s food we make, food created by our friends and family, food we eat at a restaurant around town or on the road, or just a random snack. From homemade gourmet to guilty-pleasure junk food: If we can eat it, we can write it (and shoot it).
Food is something everyone can relate to; it’s right there at the top of Maslow’s Hierarchy. And because it’s so essential, our philosophy is that it’s something worth enjoying. Our hope is that our enthusiasm for the food we create and consume will come through in our words and images.
And, it’s a nice chance for us to stretch creatively to write and photograph something besides what we deal with in our day jobs.
