Game of the Week

Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness
Hothead Games | XBLA / PC / Mac OS / Linux | Adventure RPG
When a web comic as huge as Penny Arcade -- a comic about games! -- spawns its own video game, the very notion demands notice. I mean, you have Tycho's signature writing and Gabe's signature art hybridized with turn-based combat and old-school adventure gameplay, in a Victorian/Lovecraft/steampunk stew of a setting. The non-XBLA versions are even independently distributed. Seriously, what doesn't sound good about this?

Unless, of course, you don't like Penny Arcade. Or episodic content. In that case, I suppose everything about it doesn't sound good.

Wii Fit
Nintendo | Nintendo Wii | Exercise fun!
Guys, it's time to realize that games aren't just for gamers anymore. If you've been under a rock for the past year and a half, you might not be aware that Nintendo has been marketing to so called non-gamers as part of what they call their "Blue Ocean" strategy. And you should also be told that they're insanely successful, to the point where their annual profits are pretty much the same as every other publisher's put together.

Wii Fit is to getting thin as Brain Age is to... uhh... not being stupid. This "game" and its balance board are gonna fly off of shelves. It will be sold out for a good long while. The mainstream media will pick up the story, and you'll be hearing a lot more about Wii Fit over the next few months. Please accept your fate now.

Ubisoft | Sony Playstation 3 | An FPS like every other
If you haven't seen the commercial for Haze, it features a gruff voice that basically says the following:

That's all you need to know about generic FPS #12475. It's basically "EA Spouse: The Shooter." Also, Korn recorded a song for Haze called "Haze." Clever, right?

Sony | Sony Playstation 3 | Singing
The oft-delayed PS3 version of Singstar finally makes its way to retail. Similar to Rock Band, you'll be able to buy many new tracks at the aptly named Singstar Store.

And, you... uhh... sing. By the way, dude, love the glasses.

Why yes, it's Penny Arcade. Also, Wii has some non-notable new releases and Skykid. Frickin' Skykid.

Talk about how crappy these games are!
