Games | Weekly Game Releases | Blog | Week of July 29, 2008: Get ready for violence and boobs! Seems like a man's perfect week. You know, like, a manly man. The kind with a single eyebrow, and steak juice pooling in the corners of his beard.

Game of the Week

Soul Calibur IV
Namco Bandai | Xbox 360, Playstation 3 | Fighting Game
The tale of swords and souls continues on the next-generation platforms.

At this point, everybody should know the drill. It's a fighting game with weapons and women with painfully large and unattractive knockers. It's a pretty solid fighter, a bit slower than some of the other series out there, but it's still fun. The destructible clothing is just gross, though, and for a wide variety of reasons.

Also Appearing in Stores

Spectral Force 3
Atlus | Xbox 360 | Tactics RPG
Man, Atlus is on a roll this year. It seems like every week is another Atlus release. Or two. This week we only have one, and surprise, surprise: It's a tactical RPG. Spectral Force 3 -- no word on the other two -- is filled with your tried-and-true RPG cliches, but the battle system isn't boring, so at least it has that going for it. If you're looking for a TRPG on the 360 and you don't care for Operation Darkness, give this one a try.

Downloadable Contentment: This Week in DLC

VC: Chase H.Q.
Taito | TurboGrafx16 via Wii | Criminal Gathering
Ever wanted to chase after criminals and then arrest them, but were too lazy to go to cop school? Then spend a few bucks on Chase H.Q. and ram those evildoers straight to jail.

VC: Art of Fighting
SNK | Neo-Geo via Wii | Really big fighter
Yet another Neo-Geo fighting game for the Virtual Console. Boy do those characters look huge. Yup. That's all I got.

VC: Pong Toss
JV Games | Wii | Duuuuuude Party
Guys lets get some beer and then drink it yeah party!!

Wait, we can't use beer because Nintendo doesn't want alcoholic references in the games they distribute? Looks like we're drinking "soda." Be sure to pour one out for your homey Toma Levine.

This image is from Beer Pong, which is the same game but they had to take the beer out.

XBLA: Double D Dodgeball
Microsoft | Xbox 360 | Ummmm
Looks like Soul Calibur has some competition in the huge boob department!

Oh, wait, this has nothing to do with boobs -- it's just a stupid title for a retro-style dodgeball game. (Yes, I realize that I'm not the only person to make that joke. It was just too easy, and I am lazy.)

PSN: Elefunk
8bit Games | Playstation 3 | Puzzle Game
I believe you're an elephant in this game who has to build bridges. Not burn them, of course, because elephants are notorious for their long memories and prefer not to burn bridges.

PSN: PixelJunk Eden
Q Games | Playstation 3 | Weird little game
So, in this game you jump around and grab onto flowers, or something, and collect crystals, and it's timed, and apparently it's hard, but by all accounts awesome.

PSN: Siren Blood Curse
Sony | Sony Playstation 3 | Survival Horror
Not sure how Sony's pulling this one off, but they're releasing an episodic game (sorta) online only. A full priced game -- and not a cheap one, mind you. This marks the first time that I personally know of where a game of this size has skipped retail and is exclusive to PSN. I wonder if you'll see the disc version in stores within the next three months.

Oh, right, the game? It's a survival horror game where you play different people.

Talk about how crappy these games are!
